Misato Skyline Observatory

Misato Skyline Observatory

A breathtaking spot where you can enjoy both the sunrise and a sky full of stars all to yourself.

Located at an altitude of approximately 1,400m, this observation deck offers breathtaking panoramic views of Azumino and the Matsumoto Plain. Originally built as the end point of a scenic road that served as a second route to Kamikochi, it is now known as a hidden gem for its stunning scenery. Below lies the landscape of Azumino and the Matsumoto Plain, a tapestry of rice fields and townscapes. On clear mornings, the sky is painted with the colors of sunrise, and at night, the city lights and starry sky create a spectacular view. There is a parking lot very close to the observation deck, making it easily Access by car. For those who want to enjoy nature even more, we recommend the route from the hiking trail near the observation deck to the summit of Nabekanmuriyama. The hiking trail, lined with Japanese red pines, larches, and birches, is magnificent with its fresh greenery in spring and autumn foliage, offering a truly authentic forest bathing experience. Please remember to bring bear repellent items such as bells and radios when hiking. The trail is closed during the winter, so please be careful when planning your visit.
